Founder's Message Welcome to Mission Green Light! Being a resident of Glenview Terrace Nursing Center for more than a decade had a great impact on my life. I was a person with a very low self-worth and nothing to look forward to. But the senior friends that I met at the nursing home transformed my defeatist attitude into a positive force. Their unconditional love, constant encouragement, and their words of wisdom have given me a deeper understanding of life and enlightened my soul.My Senior Friends have nurtured in me the courage to believe that I too can make a difference in people’s lives. And as I have started this voyage, it gives me solace to know that I am not alone; it is their prayers that work like the winds behind a sail. Service to humanity through Mission Green Light is my way to express my gratitude to the Almighty for His continued blessings, and to reciprocate the love and support I have received everywhere in America. Mission Green Light was incorporated in September 2002 in Illinois but, it was approved as a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit by IRS in February 2005. It took us such a longtime to reach this Milestone because we had no money. I guess the journey would become long if your only option is to walk. Our Breast Health Education Initiate (BHEI) is realistic and attainable. All we need is a little financial support to fully implement it. Please donate us $5 and give us a chance to make a little difference. Thanks! Yours truly, Rafi Munim

RAFI MUNIM
Founder
Since the age of eleven Rafi Munim, born in Karachi, Pakistan, has been suffering from a form of arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitis. He had three major spinal surgeries to stabilize a fracture in the thoracic region and had gone through miserable pain for a period of ten years. Perhaps, it is the emotional pains that are difficult to quantify and to deal with. However, these physical and emotional pains could not shackle his spirit due to his faith in God. His early education was greatly hampered by his inability to attend school due to phases of acute pain. High School graduation would have been an unachievable goal had it not been for the encouragement and loving support of his parents. In spite of difficulties, he pursued his education to complete his Bachelor's degree in Business and Master's degree in Management Accounting. In 1992, Rafi Munim came to America. The failure of the first spinal surgery and the excruciating pain it inflicted led him to a nursing home in Glenview, Illinois.
